In the heart of the Prosecco Superiore hills, Monban Winery is the result of a careful and respectful recovery of an ancient rural settlement. A project that intertwines territory, hospitality, and artisanal winemaking, where the Deco Nuvolato coating by Isoplam recalls the original elements of the place while ensuring all the performance needed for daily operations.
On the hills of Conegliano (Treviso), in the viticultural landscape of Prosecco Superiore – now a UNESCO World Heritage site – Monban Winery welcomes visitors with its sober and essential charm, where every detail tells a story of balance between peasant roots and contemporary sensitivity. The building, part of an ancient rural settlement from the 1500s complete with a merlonic tower, was originally a place of life and work for sharecroppers. Converted into a winery in the early 1900s, it remained abandoned for a long time before being restored by Matteo Bisol and Veronica De Martin, who transformed it into the beating heart of a life project that intertwines territory and entrepreneurship.
The Identity of the Place as the Project Matrix
The revitalization project involved an area of about 150 square meters, divided into three spaces: a portico dedicated to the reception and processing of grapes, a tasting room, and the actual winery. The design approach favored a language of continuity with the existing structure: the original wooden doors, the washed stone walls, and the concrete vats from the 1960s were preserved and integrated into a material narrative that enhances the identity of the place. This choice aligns with the winery’s production method, based on spontaneous fermentation, manual labor, and slow processes.
“When we brought our entrepreneurial project to life – comments Matteo Bisol, owner of the winery – we chose to operate on a small scale, with long times and a handcrafted approach where nothing is standardized. The winery’s renovation was a natural reflection of this: every detail tells not only our idea of wine but also our way of living and welcoming.”
In compliance with historical and landscape constraints, materials tied to the territory and the nature of the structure were used for the renovation: oak, stone, and concrete. The latter, in particular, was chosen to cover the floors of all the spaces.
“We were looking for an aesthetically pleasing solution while being able to withstand the high stresses due to the daily activities of a winery – explains Veronica De Martin, interior designer of the project. The Deco Nuvolato coating by Isoplam convinced us both for its smooth and luminous texture, which harmonizes well with the existing elements, and for its high resistance to wear, traffic, and heavy loads, essential for a working environment.”
Deco Nuvolato: A Bridge Between Territory and the Built Environment
A synthesis of form and function, the Deco Nuvolato concrete coating is the continuous surface that Isoplam dedicates to the most demanding environments. Aesthetically, thanks to the subtle nuances that characterize it, it creates unique and unrepeatable flooring, while performance-wise, it ensures excellent resistance to wear, fire, impacts, and UV rays. Its advanced formulation also makes it water-repellent, stain-resistant, oil-resistant, and dust-resistant, making it perfectly suited for areas with high humidity or frequent contact with oily substances that are difficult to remove.
In the Monban Winery renovation project, the use of Deco Nuvolato helped bring light to the spaces while preserving the building’s historical character. But not only that: the surface, crossed by changing reflections, serves as a bridge between interior and exterior, projecting the beauty of the surrounding viticultural landscape into the rooms, creating a total immersion in the identity of the territory.
